“I contacted MSI after finding I was pregnant in less than ideal circumstances. I totally panicked and had no idea what to do, having never been in this position before.”
I googled my options and MSI came up on my search. I wasn’t ready to actually talk to anyone so used the online chat function to find out more.
They checked my eligibility and booked a call with someone to talk more. The first call was really nerve-wracking, I didn’t know what to expect but the woman I spoke to was really lovely and helpful. She booked me in to talk to a midwife about receiving medication to take at home, as I was early in pregnancy.
The call with the midwife hugely put me at ease, she was really kind, non-judgemental and gave me the chance to understand and ask questions. She didn’t sugarcoat that it could be painful, but talked me through it with patience and calm.
I was terrified when I took the tablets. Once I’d completed all of them, I expected things to happen quickly and they didn’t, which worried me. I called the 24-hour helpline and was reassured that it could take up to 48 hours to start…. mine started after about 40 hours.
I didn’t have the level of pain or bleeding that I expected, there was quite a lot of blood when I went to the toilet but not too much in between. I did feel a bit nauseous but generally was ok. I felt something pass about 2 days after it all started, but it wasn’t painful. After 3 weeks, I used the pregnancy test provided and found it had been successful.

They provided all the information I needed for my partner and I to decide what we felt was right, and it was all done with no pressure or judgement. This is never an easy thing to do but I’m so grateful to them for helping us.
