Contraception counselling – Choosing an Implant

You received this link because this page contains information about your chosen contraception method as well as the consent form.

We have designed this page to make sure you are fully informed about how your chosen contraception method works.

Choosing an Implant: Top of the Pops for Effectiveness

Watch this short video from Simphiwe, contraceptive nurse at MSI Reproductive Choices UK, in which she explains everything you need to know about the implant.

The implant is fitted into your non-dominant arm. We use a small injection of local anaesthetic which might sting a little, but after this the insertion of the implant should be painless.

Typically, fewer than 1 in 100 people using an implant will get pregnant in one year.

Contraceptive Implant Consent Form

Please make sure you read through the whole of this form as it is part of your consent to using the implant. During your consultation, your nurse will go through it with you and ask if you have any questions
