“I had a place accepted at university which I had struggled for, and carrying on with a pregnancy was completely out of my means.”
Share your story as part of a new documentary film
MSI UK is working with a BAFTA and Emmy-winning production company on a documentary film that follows the stories of people considering and seeking a surgical abortion. We’re looking for people interested in sharing their story and being featured in the documentary.
This person submitted their story after accessing abortion care at our Crawley clinic. They decided to have an abortion amidst accepting a place at university, which they had worked hard to secure.
I knew I was pregnant for a while but waited until I tested.
The day I took the pregnancy test I felt completely lost and alone. I had a place accepted at university which I had struggled for and carrying on with a pregnancy was completely out of my means.
“I was surprised they were so understanding.”
I found MSI. Firstly, I was surprised that the person on the phone was so understanding of me. Then, the nurse that I met with was so kind and even made me laugh when I truly felt like my entire life was crumbling around me.
“I cannot explain the gratitude I feel.”
I had no friends or partner with me. However, after I had spoken with everyone at MSI, and they had told me about the support I could get, I didn’t feel alone at all. It actually made me feel a bit more normal.
“I felt so understood but not pitied.”
I honestly cannot explain the gratitude I feel towards everyone that I spoke to when I was really struggling with the choice I had to make. I felt so understood but not pitied. I am just so incredibly grateful that I was able to make a choice in an environment as kind as this.
