Share your story as part of a new documentary film
MSI UK is working with a BAFTA and Emmy-winning production company on a documentary film that follows the stories of people considering and seeking a surgical abortion. We’re looking for people interested in sharing their story and being featured in the documentary.
In this story, a surgical abortion client explains their abortion experience at our West London (Ealing) clinic. They became pregnant while using contraception, but knew that their family was already complete, so made the choice to access abortion care.
Without MSI, my life would have looked so different – and not in a good way.

“As soon as my period was late by just one day, I knew.”
I became pregnant while using contraception, and as soon as my period was late by just one day, I knew. I was devastated and deeply upset. We already have a gorgeous 3-year-old boy who is our sun and moon, and another child was never an option. We always said he would be our one and only.
So, finding out I was pregnant was nowhere near a joyful moment – it was an incredibly stressful week until I discovered MSI.

The process was extremely simple, my appointment was arranged quickly after I filled out the form, and I was met with empathy, friendliness, and support from every member of staff. It gave me such relief.
I chose to have a surgical abortion. My mind wasn’t prepared for the medical option (abortion pills), and my decision was respected and supported every step of the way.
“I was given clear aftercare instructions.”
The day at the clinic was reassuring. All the staff explained clearly how the procedure would go, what they were going to do, and how it would be done.
I felt absolutely nothing. I went to sleep and woke up as if nothing had happened. I experienced no bleeding, was given clear aftercare instructions, and was monitored for an hour before being allowed to go home.
“To me, you are superheroes.”
Since then, I’ve had no bleeding, no pain, not even mild cramps – I didn’t need any painkillers at all.*
All my praise goes to the extraordinary staff! What an amazing team. I know this is a challenging and sensitive field, yet you have chosen this work, and you give it your very best. To me, you are superheroes.
