“I couldn’t physically continue with my pregnancy.”

This person tells their story accessing medical abortion care with our Bristol clinic, after experiencing extreme morning sickness (Hyperemesis Gravidarum).

I have a slightly different story. I found out I was pregnant in November 2025. I was shocked but I was going to keep the pregnancy. Then, when I hit 5 weeks, I experienced Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

The severe constant nausea and the sickness and dizziness took everything from me.

I kept rethinking my decision until I reached a point where I couldn’t physically continue with my pregnancy.

“It was the right decision for myself and my family.”

I contacted MSI UK in Bristol, they were amazing throughout the process.

I passed the pregnancy at home at 8 weeks – it was extremely painful. Once it passed the pregnancy symptoms began passing.

It was an incredibly hard position to be in, but it was the right decision for myself and my family at the time. Waiting would have been more of a risk to my health.

I feel so lucky to be in a country where we have the choice over our bodies.

Every person is different and will experience different levels of pain and bleeding during a medical abortion, but most people will have significant cramping pain and will find pain relief helpful. If pain is severe, this is usually short lived and is relieved when the pregnancy passes. Find out more about medical abortion and pain relief here.
