COVID-19 Guidance: we are open as usual and here if you need us

All of our clinics are open as normal for face to face, telemedicine, medical or surgical treatments, including vasectomy. Our priority is continuing to deliver care to the clients who need us, for both abortion and vasectomy services.

Unless we have contacted to tell you otherwise, please be assured that your appointment is going ahead as normal. We will keep this notice under regular review and will publish any updates on this page (last updated on 14 June 2022).

Your experience in our clinics

Our services are booking-only, all clients go through a screening process prior to arrival at the centre. Please read the information below on what to expect when visiting one of our clinics for your appointment.

  • You can attend your appointment with one person: following new government guidance on reducing social distancing, our clients are now allowed to attend their appointment with one other person, who will be asked to wait in our waiting areas.
  • Face covering: as per latest UK Health Security Agency’s "Infection prevention and control guidelines" we are now advising our clients, visitors and MSI UK staff that mask wearing is no longer mandatoryShould you become unwell with COVID-19 or other respiratory infection symptoms prior to attending this appointment, you must contact us to reschedule. You will not be allowed into the centre if you are unwell, and a risk assessment will be taking place at the centres on entry.

  • Arranging childcare: unfortunately, you won’t be able bring any children into the centre with you. This is to be as sensitive as possible to others who may be in the waiting areas. Because of this policy we do not have facilities for children in our centres. Please make sure you arrange childcare.
    • Please note that as some of our centres may be within a GP practice there may be babies/children in shared waiting rooms.

COVID-19 symptoms or other respiratory infections

Prior to attending your appointment, please ensure you read the list of symptoms of COVID-19, flu and common respiratory infections below. If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or other respiratory infections listed, you must contact us to re-arrange your appointment - a risk assessment will be taking place at our clinics on entry:

  •  continuous cough
  •  high temperature, fever or chills
  •  loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell
  •  shortness of breath
  •  unexplained tiredness, lack of energy
  •  muscle aches or pains that are not due to exercise
  •  not wanting to eat or not feeling hungry
  •  headache that is unusual or longer lasting than usual
  • sore throat, stuffy or runny nose
  • diarrhoea, feeling sick or being sick

In our clinics, there are screens at reception and many hand hygiene units around the building as well as signs throughout the building reminding staff and clients alike to maintain social distancing -where possible- and informative posters about spread of disease and how to prevent it.

TELEMEDICINE service - At Home Abortion Pills

Following initial screening, a phone consultation and all necessary safeguarding checks, eligible clients will be able to take both sets of abortion pills at home WITHOUT attending a clinic.

Our Vasectomy Services are up and running

Our vasectomy services have been up and running since 11th May 2020 in most areas. GPs are invited to refer using their normal referral process to ensure their patients have access to our Vasectomy service. We are happy to receive referrals from any GPs referring from areas were services have not yet re-commenced. In some of our vasectomy centres clients may be asked to wait in their cars outside of the premises until they are called in for their appointment.
